Hello Fellow Integralite,
  • Germany leads the integral way in Europe
  • The Netherlands realizes its potential
  • Eastern Europe hungrily catches up
European Tour Part 2

Here is the second part of our tour around Europe's integral groups and organisations. Our apologies that there hasn't been space to give everyone a mention, but that underlines just how much is going on!

We've heard from even more people who are involved in integral activities, and as always we'd love to hear from any of you we haven't been in contact with. There is now also a Newsletter Archive Page where you can look at any past issues of the newsletter.
German Speaking Europe

Europes German speaking countries are a veritable hotbed of integral activity. There are a multitude of salons, practice groups and organisations, all carrying on the strong German philosophical tradition. The most prominent of these organisations is the Integrales Forum, now into its 10th year, which serves as an umbrella organisation for over 20 of these salon groups as well as specialist branches for activity in such areas as integral politics and integral ecology.

The Integrales Forum is the organiser of an annual integral conference, which last year saw John Dupuy and Brian Robertson present their innovative work. The organisation also publishes the quarterly Integrale Perspektiven magazine for a growing subscriber base.

Other notable groups include the Integrale Initiative Frankfurt which runs professional training seminars, bi-yearly ILP seminars, and co-publishes the online journal Integral Informiert along with the Integrale Bibliothek. And alongside those, is the European Integral Academy, which is a project created to work toward the future funding of integral scholarships, the spreading of integral knowledge, and general research and applications.

Recent developments have seen a summit attended by the 13 major German Integral bodies, which among other things came to a decision to create a new body called the German Integral Academy, entrusted with setting new standards for integral events and training within Europe.
Emergence in the Netherlands

Don Beck has said that (to paraphrase) of all the European countries, The Netherlands has the highest cultural centre of gravity. The amount of great integral activity coming out of it reflects this. Leading the way is the Dutch Centre for Human Emergence. They are doing sterling work in the pursuit of catalysing transformation, and run a yearly European Confab for integral practitioners, as well as holding regular salon meetings. They have also created the School of Synnervation, teaching the values of emergence and evolution that CHE stands for.

KenKon is a practice centre that hosted workshops with both Diane Hamilton and Terry Patten at the end of last year. There are further workshops planned for this year, so keep your eyes open. Also following in the tradition of integral innovation are Realize!, "fostering a growth in consciousness by working together".
Elsewhere in Europe

Eastern Europe may still be some way behind the likes of Germany and the UK in terms of integral groups and initiatives, but there are already signs that great things are appearing. One such example is the integral scene in Hungary, led by Bence Ganti. Bence has not only established a dedicated Hungarian Network, but in 2006 set up a fully dedicated Integral Training School (site not yet available in English) to train adults to be psychologists during a 3 year program. They have welcomed their second group of new students this academic year, and the training is going really well by all accounts.
My philosophy is that integral education is genuine only if the teaching itself is integral, not only the content of the theory.
Bence Ganti - Founder of the Integral psychology school, and President of the Hungarian Transpersonal Association
And yet further East, integral groups are doing well in Russia and the Ukraine. There is also a Russian Integral blog (in Russian only, surprisingly!). Elsewhere in Europe, the other major group not mentioned already is the established Paris Integral Salon , run by ex-Integral Institute European facilitator Brian Van der Horst.
In the Next Newsletter...
The next newsletter, coming in two weeks time, will go into detail about exactly what the new Integral Europe website will do, and what the benefits will be for all of us in the European Integral Community! You'll be able to find out about all the actual features of the site, and how those will help you, your group, or your organisation. As always, if you have any questions or would just like to introduce yourself, you can write to us at info@integraleurope.org

Integral blessings,

Pelle, Ewan and Peter
